Collection: Sarah Keith Ceramics + Return to Zero: HOPE
On October 19, 2022, one of my best friends gave birth to her stillborn baby boy, Ford. She was 32 weeks pregnant. It was one week before I started chemotherapy and while I was fighting an all encompassing battle of my own, the loss of Ford shattered all of our worlds in such a devastating way that I can sill feel the oxygen leaving my body when I got the news. Everything around me stopped. It was like receiving a cancer diagnosis, but along with it went my heart… for my dear friend and for the baby boy that was already a part of our chosen family. As we approach the day that we lost baby Ford, I’ve been trying to find a way to pay tribute to him and to his Mama….
In memory of sweet baby Ford, I have collaborated with the organization Return to Zero: HOPE to create a batch of limited edition vases. They represent a mama’s body carrying her baby and the hand painted forget me not flowers represent the memory of her baby… in this case, our memory of Ford. Each vase is wheel thrown, sculpted, and then hand painted and glazed, resulting in a one of a kind piece. Profits from these limited edition vases will be donated to Return to Zero: HOPE.
